Privacy notice

This notice explains how personal information is handled on this website, operated by Andre Roos (the "responsible party" for the purposes of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA)). It is written to be read by visitors in South Africa and abroad.

What is collected

The contact form collects the information you choose to provide: your name, organisation, email address, telephone number, country and the content of your message, together with the enquiry category. The site itself does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. Server logs maintained by the hosting provider record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type and pages requested for security and performance purposes.

Why it is collected

Enquiry information is used solely to respond to your enquiry, to run a conflict check where the enquiry concerns a legal matter, and, if an engagement follows, to administer that engagement. It is not sold, rented or used for marketing without your separate consent.

Who processes it

Form submissions are received and stored by the hosting provider's form service and forwarded by email to Andre Roos. Hosting and form processing are performed by Netlify, Inc., whose servers are located outside South Africa; the transfer is made on the basis of the provider's contractual data-protection commitments, as permitted by section 72 of POPIA.

Retention

Enquiries that do not lead to an engagement are deleted within twelve months. Information relating to an engagement is retained for as long as professional, legal and regulatory obligations require.

Your rights

You may ask what personal information is held about you, request correction or deletion, object to processing, and complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa). Requests may be sent to andre@andreroos.com.

Confidential and privileged material

Please do not submit confidential evidence, policy documents, medical information or personal data about other people through the website. Such material should be exchanged only once an engagement and non-disclosure terms are in place.
