Andre has provided independent expert reports in proceedings before the Gauteng and Limpopo Divisions of the High Court of South Africa in 2025, in matters concerning long-term insurance for commercial and private pilots, the Civil Aviation Authority’s medical and mental-health certification standards, and the advice given by insurance intermediaries to pilots. The nature of his involvement in each matter is described only to the extent that the court record and his instructing attorneys permit.

His value to a legal team lies in the combination of disciplines. He can read a pilot’s logbook and medical file as an underwriter, assess the flight as an investigator, and explain to a court, in plain language, what the insurance market would have done with the same facts. He is familiar with the practice of each of the major South African life insurers in aviation risk and with the reinsurance arrangements behind them.

Every report is prepared on the basis that his primary duty is to the court and not to the instructing party. Opinions are confined to his areas of expertise, and the facts, assumptions and documents on which they rest are stated expressly. Confidential evidence, privileged communications and identifiable client information are never disclosed on this site.
